Description
The North Luangwa Conservation Programme (NLCP), situated along Mpika Road, is a beacon of sustainable wildlife conservation in Zambia. Collaborating with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, NLCP has been instrumental since 1986 in preserving the North Luangwa ecosystem, encompassing the 4,636 km² North Luangwa National Park and its surrounding 22,000 km² area. The park is renowned for its thriving populations of elephants and the country's only black rhino population, which has shown remarkable recovery efforts. Accessible via the rugged Mpika route, visitors can embark on unforgettable walking safaris, birdwatching, and eco-tourism adventures. The programme also empowers local communities through initiatives like the Community Conservation Bank, fostering sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship
